Privacy Policy

SEMVIO is a private, on-device video search application. This policy explains what the Android app processes, what limited information leaves the phone, and why.
Videos and search data
Selected videos, extracted frames, thumbnails, semantic embeddings, detected labels, colors, and search queries are processed and stored on the device. SEMVIO does not upload video content, frames, embeddings, or search queries to its servers.
Local app data
The app stores selected file references, indexing results, settings, trial usage, and pending referral information locally. Users can remove indexed videos inside SEMVIO. Android settings can clear all local app data.
Anonymous quota and referrals
To enforce the free indexing allowance, referral bonus, and rewarded-ad limits after app data is cleared, SEMVIO uses Firebase Anonymous Authentication, Cloud Firestore, and a Firebase Function. It sends an anonymous user identifier, a one-way SHA-256 device hash derived from an Android app-scoped device identifier, used indexing duration, referral codes and redemption status, rewarded-ad transaction status, daily reward count, granted bonus duration, and related timestamps. SEMVIO does not request or store a raw MAC address. These records are used for service operation, reward verification, fraud prevention, and abuse prevention.
Anonymous product analytics
SEMVIO uses Google Analytics for Firebase to understand whether onboarding, video import, indexing, search, result opening, referral sharing, and in-app feedback categories are working. Events use coarse ranges such as video-duration, result-count, latency, score, rank, progress, and error-type buckets. SEMVIO does not send videos, sampled frames, thumbnails, embeddings, file names, file paths, or search text in analytics events.
Advertising
The free version uses Google Mobile Ads. Depending on consent, region, device settings, and ad configuration, Google and its partners may process IP address, approximate location inferred from IP, device or advertising identifiers, app interactions, ad interactions, and diagnostic information to provide, measure, secure, and personalize advertising. When a user voluntarily requests extra indexing time, SEMVIO sends the one-way device hash to Google Mobile Ads as server-side-verification custom data so the Firebase backend can validate the completed reward and prevent duplicate or fraudulent grants. Closing or skipping the ad gives no reward and does not affect normal use. SEMVIO uses Google's consent tools where required. SEMVIO currently offers the Free Plan only. No subscription purchase is available.
Network providers
SEMVIO uses Google Firebase for anonymous quota, referral records, and product analytics, and Google AdMob for advertising and consent. Their processing is governed by their own privacy terms. Network providers may receive technical information such as IP address as part of normal internet communication.
Retention and deletion
Local data remains until it is deleted in the app, cleared through Android settings, or the app is uninstalled. Anonymous quota and anti-abuse records may be retained as needed to preserve the lifetime free allowance, referral integrity, security, and legal compliance. Because the app has no named account, the developer may need the app's anonymous identifier to locate a cloud record.
Feedback and ratings
Rate SEMVIO opens the official Google Play listing. Send feedback records only the selected improvement category, such as search quality, indexing, performance, interface, or other. Search-result feedback records whether a result was helpful and an optional reason category. No free-text feedback, video data, file name, file path, or search text is sent.
Security
Cloud traffic is encrypted in transit. Device data is protected by Android's application sandbox and the security of the user's phone. No system can guarantee absolute security.
Children
SEMVIO is not directed to children under 13. Users must have the legal right to process the videos they select.
